Pool Resurfacing in Nerrina
Land slopes in Nerrina, the City of Ballarat's Neighbourhood Character Study (August 2024) says, and the City's Onsite Wastewater Management Plan names Nerrina among nine suburbs with clusters of properties on septic systems. Of those clusters the Plan says challenging topography escalates the cost of connecting. For a pool owner the first question is whether the property is on mains sewer, because the City says a pool must not be connected to a septic system that was not designed for it.

Permits and City of Ballarat rules
Whether a pool resurfacing in Nerrina needs a building permit is the City of Ballarat's to answer. Its permit page does not name resurfacing an existing pool; an alteration to an existing barrier may need one.

Pool Resurfacing around Nerrina
The Study, dated August 2024, lists Nerrina with Brown Hill and Little Bendigo as places where sloping terrain is present. The Plan says of its nine clusters that challenging topography further complicates engineering design and escalates connection expenses for property owners. It does not say that any given Nerrina property is on a septic system or on mains sewer, only that clusters exist.
Ask the provider where wash-down water from the old surface will be directed. EPA Victoria says waste, wastewater included, must be kept out of stormwater drains so far as reasonably practicable. To learn whether the property is inside the declared sewerage district, the City says to contact Central Highlands Water.
